“President Donald Trump has not hidden the fact that his first hundred days (for the moment) will be incredibly fast,” Schoen wrote in an opinion article for Fox News Digital.

“When executive orders are enough, Trump pressures his allies in Congress to resume certain parts of his program in the form of legislation. “

“Among other things, Trump needs to push through legislation that extends the 2017 tax cuts, raising the debt ceiling while cutting federal spending, comprehensive immigration reform, and giving tax breaks to electric companies. “

“However, what Trump is and the realities of Congress are two other things. “

“With Republicans’ ultra-slim majority in the House, and divisions in the Republican caucus and party generally – as the conflict between Steve Bannon and Elon Musk suggests – there is the potential for problems in various areas of Trump’s proposed agenda.”

“All of this leaves Democrats, disheartened after an election that saw Republicans sweep the White House and houses of Congress, in a precarious position. “

“Do they continue to blindly oppose Trump, despite the will of the electorate that decisively elected him and returned Congress to the Republican Party?”

“Or, detecting that “resistance at all prices” is an exercise in futility, do Democrats adopt a strategic policy of bipartisan cooperation?”

President Trump spent much of the day after his inauguration signing dozens of executive orders, fulfilling some of the promises the campaign made.

Hours after returning to office, Trump declared a national state of emergency at the southern border and ordered the deployment of U. S. troops to the region before immigration officials.

He also reinstated a policy from his first administration that had asylum seekers waiting in Mexico and directing, once again, the border wall structure after it was halted under the Biden administration.

Among other executive decisions signed by Trump were orders to defend women from “gender, ideology, extremism and restoring biological truth,” drill on American territory and terminate DEI programs within the federal government.

The GOP had hoped that several key nominees to Trump’s cabinet would show up temporarily due to the Republican majority in the Senate, but only Marco Rubio officially assumed his new role as secretary of state on Monday with a 99-0 vote.

While some blame Senate Democrats for allegedly curtailing the confirmation process, others say Trump’s transition is to blame, due to the withholding of signing agreements with the Justice Department to begin with.
