The iconic 1970s engine remodelled into an electric vehicle after a £450,000 overhaul in a ‘world first’ is coming to market at a tempting price

An iconic 1970s engine that was transformed into an electric vehicle after a massive overhaul of £450,000 is up for auction.

The first of its kind, 1972 Zero Labs Bronco, will be up for grabs at SBX Automobiles, a luxury vehicle auction space, after 4 years of development.

The reconditioned all-electric Bronco has been rebuilt in metal with a traditional bamboo dashboard.

It also features white leather main points and has a nickel-plated cockpit.

It runs on a BorgWarner battery, with a three-pedal manual transmission.

Over £447,108 has been spent on the Bronco in production costs alone but no sale price is currently listed for the vehicle.

The car, which has only traveled 3,000 kilometers, is finished in silvery white metallic and should have “started a revolution in electric vehicles. “

The directory says, “California-based Zero Labs has made waves in the automotive world with a stunning remastering of vintage vehicles that combines cutting-edge modern engineering and custom design with respected vintage vehicles like the Ford Bronco.

“And the copy that is auctioned is the first product.

“It details the 4 years of engineering and innovation required to complete this all-electric beauty, but suffice it to say, this 1972 Bronco is like nothing else in the world.”

The vehicle was purchased by Zero Labs in 2016 and completely rebuilt.

It was basically used as a demonstration car for demonstrations and media events.

The car is a “masterpiece” thanks to its “cutting-edge” generation and performance.

The directory adds: “This is a vehicle that will be the center of attention of any ultra-premium collection.   »

This comes as the Sun reported on the best EVs to get your hands on in the new year.

Currently the UK’s cheapest new EV, the Dacia Spring, starts at £14,495.

And while this price won’t be beaten for some time (as far as we can tell), the revamped all-electric Renault Twingo will certainly be close behind.
