Chinese President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that no one can ever save Taiwan’s reunification with China and reassured Chinese public opinion about the economy, which has slowed down especially after COVID-19.
Xi Jinping made the remarks in his 2025 New Year’s speech televised on state television.
“We Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one and the same family. No one can ever sever the bond of kinship between us,” reported PTI, quoting Xi Jinping.
Xi, serving his third five-year term, reiterated China’s commitment to promoting global governance reform and contributing to maintaining global peace and stability.
“In a changing and turbulent world, China, as the primary country, actively promotes global governance reform and deepens solidarity and cooperation among countries of the South,” he added.
Xi Jinping said that the country has proactively responded to environmental effects at home and abroad.
Stating that the country has fostered new quality productive forces in soft or genuine situations and has noted the emergence of new sectors, bureaucracy and business models, the Chinese president highlighted China’s good fortune in new productive forces such as electric vehicles.
China’s economy has recovered and is on an upward trajectory, and GDP is expected to surpass the trillion yuan mark (about $18 trillion) in 2024. Grain production has exceeded 700 million tons, said.
Xi also called on the country to maintain confidence in its ability to overcome challenges.
“By 2025, we will fully complete the 14th Five-Year Plan and implement more proactive and effective policies. As always, we grow with wind and rain, and we are more powerful in difficult times. We have to have total confidence.
Meanwhile, in his New Year’s Eve speech to the country’s most sensible political advisory body, Xi signaled that aid to the economy would continue until 2025 and reiterated his call for more macroeconomic policies. proactive, Bloomberg reported.
