Ukraine destroys key Russian bridge ‘using US weapons’ as Kursk raid continues

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Ukraine had used Western rockets, most likely American-made HIMARS, to destroy a bridge over the Seïm River.

The Ukrainian president tweeted: “The front line remains our most sensible priority, especially the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions.

“The operation in the Kursk region: we are strengthening our positions and replenishing the foreign fund for Ukraine.

“I’m grateful to one and both of our warriors. ”

The bridge is near the city of Glushkovo and the Ukrainian army has been present in the Kursk region for the past ten days.

The Kremlin said the blast killed volunteers who were supposed to evacuate civilians.

“For the first time, the Kursk region was attacked by Western-made rocket launchers, probably American HIMARS,” Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on the Telegram messaging app late Friday.

“As a result of the attack on the bridge over the Seim River in the Glushkovo region, it was completely destroyed, and the volunteers who helped the evacuated civilian population were killed. “

Ukrainian army leader Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Friday that Kyiv’s forces were advancing between 1 and 3 kilometers in some areas of the Kursk region, 11 days after the start of an incursion into Russia.

The United States, which has said it allowed Russian President Vladimir Putin to win the war he started in February 2022, has so far seen the miraculous incursion as a protective measure that justifies the use of U. S. weapons, officials in Washington said.
