Russian President Vladimir Putin’s key allies across Europe reportedly applauded Donald Trump’s selection of Vice President J. D. Vance.
Vance, a staunch advocate of ending U. S. aid to Ukraine, may play a key role in achieving Putin’s war goals in Ukraine if Trump wins a second presidency.
Vance received praise from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who said that “[Vance] is for peace” on Wednesday at the United Nations Conference in New York, according to Reuters.

Orbán, a former Trump ally, has sparked controversy due to his sympathy with Putin and his attempt to block aid to Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
Orbán’s leadership appears to have its eyes on Vance after the senator played a key role in blocking a U. S. aid program for the troubled Eastern European country earlier this year.

The Financial Times reported that senior Hungarian officials also welcomed the prospect of seeing Vance as vice president after Orbán privately told European leaders that Trump “would be in a position to act as an intermediary for peace” in the clash “immediately” if he wins the election.
