World leaders react to Trump rally shootings: ‘shocked’ by assassination attempt

Former President Trump was ejected from the scene via the Secret Service at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after gunshots were heard. A law enforcement source told Fox News’ Jacqui Henrich that the shooter was killed and two other injured people were taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh.

An FBI team is on its way to conduct a “murder investigation,” a Secret Service source showed Fox News’ Lucas Tomlinson.

Some world leaders seized on X’s merit to take into account quick-thinking articles and statements of surprise and condemnation. British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer wrote that he was “horrified by the startling scenes at President Trump’s rally and we send him and his family our best wishes. ”

“Political violence, in any form, has no place in our societies and my mind goes out to all those who suffer this attack,” Starmer added.  

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote that “the incident that occurred during former President Trump’s campaign in Pennsylvania is troubling and confrontational. “

“There is no place for violence in the democratic process,” Albanese added. “I’m relieved to hear reports that former President Trump is now safe. ” 

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Trump’s best friend who visited the former president on Thursday, wrote: “My mind and prayers are with the president [Donald Trump] in this dark hour. » 

Another close best friend of Trump and leader of the British Reform Party, MP Nigel Farage, wrote in X: “The mainstream media has hate speech against my friend Donald Trump. I hope they are proud of themselves. Disgusting people. »

“I follow with apprehension the news from Pennsylvania, where the 45th president of the United States [Donald Trump] was shot dead at a rally,” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote, according to a translation.  

“My solidarity and my wishes for a speedy recovery pass to him, in the hope that in the coming months of electoral crusade debate and duty will triumph over hatred and violence. ” 

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote that he was “sickened” by the shooting and stressed that “we cannot exaggerate: political violence is never acceptable. “

“My mind is with former President Trump, those who were on the occasion and all Americans,” Trudeau wrote.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wrote: “The attack on former President Donald Trump will have to be vehemently rejected by all defenders of democracy and political dialogue. What we have observed today is unacceptable,” according to a translation.

Argentine President Javier Milei expressed all his “support and solidarity” for Trump, calling him “the victim of a cowardly assassination attempt that endangered his life and that of many other people. ” 

“The desperation of the foreign left is not surprising, because today it sees its destructive ideology expire and is in a position to destabilize democracies and promote violence to come to power,” Milei wrote, according to a translation. “For fear of losing the elections, they resort to terrorism to impose their retrograde and authoritarian agenda. ”

“I hope for a recovery of President Trump and that the elections in the United States are carried out in a fair, non-violent and democratic manner,” he added.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X: “Deeply involved in the attack on my friend former President Donald Trump. We strongly condemn this incident. Violence has no place in politics or democracies. We wish him a recovery “Our minds and prayers are with the families of the deceased, the injured and the American people. “

Also in X, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said: “We will have to oppose any form of violence that demands situations of democracy. I pray for President Trump’s speedy recovery. “

Other world leaders condemning the assassination attempt on the former president include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that “President Xi expressed solidarity with former President Trump over the shooting. “
