Kenozero National Park is a natural, ancient, and cultural complex in the Arkhangelsk region of northwestern Russia. It is attractive not only for its forest reserves and crystal-clear lakes, but also for its ancient surroundings, which have preserved artifacts from the centuries-old culture of northern Russia.
You can locate lines of the indigenous Finno-Ugric people, as well as the cultural landscape created through the Slavic tribes, who began settling there in the 12th century.
These places are believed to be unique as they mix the land and nature control traditions of two cultures: Finno-Ugric forestry and Slavic agriculture.
The main attraction of Kenozero are several villages with original monuments of Russian wooden architecture from the 16th and 17th centuries. The local tent churches are particularly striking for their good appearance and unique paintings are preserved in them.
In 2004, Kenozero was included in the World List of Biosphere Reserves and already has a Specially Protected Area. According to Alexander Tsybulsky, governor of the Arkhangelsk region, Kenozero had been a candidate to be popular as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site for 10 years and Finally, this cheerful resolution was taken.
