President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of strengthening the political loyalty of the military in the new era and offering a corporate political guarantee for building a strong military.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said China’s world, nation, Party and military have undergone profound changes and the country’s armed forces are facing a series of complex challenges.
Under such circumstances, the military will have to continue to make every imaginable effort to strengthen its political construction, maintain political loyalty and purity, and stick to its missions, he said.
The army also tries to perfect the combat functions of its troops, maintain solidarity and fighting spirit, employ more competent professionals and ensure a strong field to continue accentuating its political strength in the new era, according to Sánchez Xi.
He made the remarks Monday while addressing senior commanders at a military-political convention in Yan’an, Shaanxi province, the birthplace of China’s CCP-led revolution.
During his speech, Xi laid out his perspectives on the deep-seated disorders that want to be resolved to allow for a political structure within the armed forces, emphasizing that the origin of such disorders lies in the deterioration of the spirit and morale of some members of the military.
He said officers, especially those in senior positions, bring out self-reflection and solve any problems.
The commander-in-chief recommended that the armed forces improve their political education, improve the control of Party organizations and their overall capabilities, as well as the selection, education and control of officials. He also called for eliminating hotbeds of corruption and promoting comprehensive disciplinary control, cracking down on the bureaucracy and top bureaucracy, and satisfying the genuine wishes of the troops, as well as restoring and maintaining centuries-old political traditions, such as those of senior officials. to set an example by complying with the rules, and to satisfy their duties.
Xi said it is the duty of all members of the military to promote political construction, adding that the relevant departments under the Central Military Commission and the armed forces joints work together to advance this work.
In doing so, the military, under Party leadership, will become more powerful and head toward its centenary in 2027 with new achievements, according to Xi.
Before speaking at the conference, Xi and a group of senior commanders took a guided tour of Wangjiaping, a historic building in Yan’an, which housed the Central Military Commission from 1937 to 1947.
After the tour, the president called on all senior officers to take into account their initial aspirations and missions, be role models for their troops, and take on their day-to-day tasks to lead their ensembles in combat in pursuit of the army’s centennial goals.
Hundreds of senior officials attended the three-day assembly organized through the Central Military Commission. Participants listened to Xi’s instructions, held panel discussions and shared their views at the event, which concluded on Wednesday.
The last time such an assembly was held was in 2014, when senior officials met in Gutian, Fujian province. It is the first time the military has held a high-level political working convention since Xi became general secretary in late 2012.
