Man dies after crashing into tree on Lake County Road

A man died Wednesday afternoon after losing his vehicle on a Lake County road and crashing into a tree, the government said.

The man traveling north on Bottle Rock Road, west of Cobb, at approximately 1:44 p. m. when his Toyota Scion pulled off the east side of the two-lane highway just north of Spring Hill Road, the California-Clear Lake Highway Patrol said in a press release.

The sedan rolled down an embankment, overturned, and crashed into a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

Cal Fire attended the scene of the twist of fate and declared the man dead.

Authorities controlled one-way traffic on Bottle Rock Road while CHP-Clear Lake investigated and the government cleaned up the site.

According to the CHP, alcohol and drugs are suspected to be the cause of the accident.
