Sixers eject Howard Eskin from practice after sports radio host’s unwanted advance at Phillies game

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Sixers joined the Phillies in banning Howard Eskin from their facility after the veteran Philadelphia sportscaster and radio host allegedly made an unwanted advance toward an Aramark worker at Citizens Bank Park.

The Sixers are tenants of the Wells Fargo Center, whose lease expires in 2031. They hope to build a new stadium in Philadelphia’s Market East neighborhood.

Aramark announced Tuesday night that it learned that one of its employees had been the subject of an unwanted advance through Eskin at the stadium. The company said it immediately opened an investigation, corroborated the allegations and worked with Audacy, the parent company of 94WIP. and the Phillies to the employee.

In a statement, Audacy said he learned of “an unwanted kiss from Howard Eskin to an Aramark worker at Citizens Bank Park. “

“The protection of our workers is paramount,” Aramark said in a statement, “and when we learned that an Aramark worker had been subjected to an unwanted advance by an Audacy worker, we opened an investigation that corroborated the allegations. “

Eskin responded to a phone call from CBS News Philadelphia.

Audacy said Eskin will continue to air on WIP this weekend due to anything unrelated to the Citizens Bank Park incident.

CBS News Philadelphia has reached out to the Flyers and Philadelphia Eagles. The Flyers have not yet responded at the time of publication. The Eagles said they are following the situation.

Eskin, 73, has been a sports media personality in Philadelphia for decades. In 1986, he helped launch WIP’s first sports communication program and broadcast about 7,000 programs on the radio station.

Eskin also made several stops at television stations in Philadelphia, adding two stints on KYW-TV, now CBS News Philadelphia, in 1982 and 1992. Eskin has lately contributed to Eagles politics on FOX29 while also serving as a backup reporter for the Eagles on WIP.

Eskin hosts a Saturday morning sports radio show on WIP.

Eskin’s son, Spike Eskin, joined the station earlier this year in WIP’s evening time slot after running for program director of WFAN-FM in New York City.
