This year, a 71-year-old woman made history as the oldest contestant to compete in the Miss Texas USA pageant. Marissa Teijo didn’t win the pageant, but she inspired thousands of people with her skill at this weekend’s pageant in Houston. .
Aarieanna Ware took home the crown after being named Miss Texas USA on Saturday, June 22. She won Miss Dallas last year and is now ready to represent Texas in the Miss USA pageant.
The Miss Universe organization recently removed age limits for contestants over the age of 18 to be more inclusive. It also allowed the participation of married, divorced, or pregnant women. “I feel that now all women have a new level of opportunities, strength and beauty,” Teijo said.
Teijo was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Prior to the festival, she said she was thrilled to help Texans and El Pasoans break barriers and make a difference in their spaces of interest, regardless of age.
According to Eccandc. org, Teijo was born on July 8, 1952. He grew up on a farm and learned early on that he had a fondness for fitness, according to KVIA. He has participated in competitions, adding the National Physics Committee event.
Teijo got 114 votes on the Miss USA website. In a previous Instagram post, she wrote, “I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing new experience as a contestant at the Miss Texas USA pageant.
