The third annual “Food Trucks and Fireworks” festival, hosted through Top-Notch Real Estate, kicks off at five p. m. on Friday at Sandy Downs.
About thirty food trucks will be present.
“We have all kinds of food — soda, lemonade, burgers, barbecues, a bunch of dessert joints, a specialty croissant vendor, we have tacos — pretty much everything you can think of,” said Bri Elizondo, co-owner. Prime Genuine Estate in Idaho Falls.
Activities include “a corn hole tournament, a pie-eating competition, other games, and a fireworks display after sunset,” according to a news release.
“We’ll have bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals,” Elizondo said. “The Idaho Falls Police Department is bringing some of their patrol vehicles (in addition to an unmarked detective car and a K9 unit) for children to ride in. “
Champ’s Heart will be present with miniature horses for children to enjoy as well.
Most youth and family activities are free, along with inflatable games and fireworks. Vendors will be able to purchase food, facial portraits and balloon animals.
The evening will end with a 20- to 25-minute fireworks show, featuring a pyrotechnic from Salt Lake City.
“We’re going to release them from the sand dunes so they can see,” Elizondo said.
The event is designed for people of all ages. More than 3,000 people have already registered for the event.
There will be free water stations at Sandy Downs. ADA seating and an ADA restroom will also be available.
“It’s all about the network, so everything that happens here is backed by a network sponsor,” said Jordan Homer, organizer of the event. . . . “It’s just a fun activity to celebrate our country and celebrate our community. It’s free, so other people can spend cash if they need it, but you don’t have to,” Elizondo said. “The weather has been fantastic. It’s a way to get out of the house, socialize, and meet some local businesses and local food vendors.
