PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) — The man accused of killing two other people and injuring a third in a crash Wednesday morning at a Pewaukee structure is now charged with two counts of reckless homicide.
Court documents reveal that Jade Moen, 49, of Menomonee Falls, was heading west near Pewaukee Road and Capitol Dr. when she “passed out. “
Police said he first hit the back of a beige sedan, killing the 76-year-old man he was driving, before his pickup truck continued west into a structure zone.
Witnesses estimated Moen’s speed to be about 30 miles per hour when he crashed into the sedan, but he reached between 60 and 80 miles per hour when he entered an area blocked by orange cones.
A 46-year-old employee of the structure later died and another employee was injured and taken to a local hospital.
Investigators said that when Moen woke up later, he ran over two identification documents, one of which was marked “VOID” and the other that read in red “No driver’s license. “
Driving records show his license “returned for an indefinite period” last August.
While receiving treatment for his injuries, officials said Moen revealed that he had been suffering from seizures since 2010 and was taking medication twice a day.
He added that when he goes to work, he either takes an Uber or she takes him in her car.
The documents imply that Moen told the government he was “sorry” for the accident.
Bail was set at $1,000,000 through the court on Thursday.
He also faces one count of reckless bodily harm in the first degree, two counts of knowingly operating a motor vehicle with a valid license that caused death, one count of knowingly operating a motor vehicle with a valid license causing serious physical harm, and one count of first degree recklessly. endangering safety.
If convicted of all charges, Moen faces 173 years in prison.
His next court hearing will take place at the end of July.
