A new puppy store opened in Wyoming earlier this month and has some features that are sure to please dogs, cats, and humans alike.
The store, Green Dog Barkery, is located around the corner from Midway Mall, off Wyoming Avenue, and is owned by Michele Pertl. Michelle’s husband, Scott, and his daughter, Madison, are key participants in the new family business.
The company’s call is significant, the first word. According to Scott Pertl, Green Dog Barkery prides itself on its nutritional well-being and environmental sustainability, both “green” initiatives.
Two of the main attractions of Green Dog Barkery are its social area and the sweet bakery. Each has a unique service for the company’s operations that sets it apart in the puppy store landscape.
Scott said the social realm has three pillars: safety, schooling and charity.
Through the social area, Green Dog Barkery serves as a playground for pets and their humans. There, pets have a running area in the indoor and outdoor part of a facility, while their humans can socialize with other owners.
“It’s exciting to share this concept. People come here, see the social area and say, ‘Wow,’ it’s a very different thing,” Scott said.
The social area has already hosted a number of personal occasions, adding a dog birthday party, and there are many plans to host more occasions there in the future. Scott said the main requirement for pets to attend an occasion in the social area is to be up-to-date on their vaccinations. For humans, the area can be rented for $50 an hour.
In keeping with the protection guidelines, Scott said that some occasions in the social realm can be harmed by the size, breed or age of the animal.
