Initially, the company had announced plans for 2021 for the new Sioux Falls plant, which is expected to cost many millions of dollars and hire more than six hundred new employees. In addition, the company is now announcing plans to open a regional office in downtown Sioux Falls to its expansion and ongoing operations at the new production facility. Initial plans for the regional workplace are expected to create 50 good-paying jobs, with the prospect of creating up to 100 jobs once the production facility is completed.
The new production facility will produce Asian-style food, primarily for Schwan’s number one Korean food brand, bibigo, employing automated production lines. The new production campus will also feature a warehouse and distribution center, shipping and receiving docks, and offices.
The company has also worked with the state of South Dakota and the City of Sioux Falls to design a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility to be built through Schwan’s Company at the new production facility. The wastewater treatment facility will allow the company to discharge water into the city with as little effect imaginable on the city’s existing operations, according to a statement.
