Ministry of Health goes mobile to connect rural residents to services

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. – A local fitness branch provides an opportunity for others to get care.

This is an outside clinic through the Henderson County Health Department and is available to citizens throughout the region.

If you’re not sure if you can take advantage of this feature, Henderson County Health Department Director Emily Rushing gave us more information.

“All those who can take advantage of our facilities. So uninsured adults between the ages of 19 and 64 who are uninsured can come here and see a provider, get their medications, all on a sliding scale,” Rushing said. “So it’s a wonderful service to the community. People can get WIC services here, STD testing and remedies. There are a multitude of services. If you have any questions, you can call us and find out.

Some other services come with monitoring your important signs, lab tests, pregnancy tests, and birth control. It wasn’t a one-day affair: Rushing tells us about other times when you can take a tour.

“We’re pushing an outside clinic here in Parkers Crossroads, at Fire Station No. 3. We’ll do this on the second Tuesday of every month, and then in Reagan, Tennessee, on the fourth Tuesday. every month, in their chimney station,” Rushing said.

If you weren’t able to make it on Tuesday, Rushing tells us what we want to do next time.

“It would be best if they just called and scheduled an appointment at [731] 968-8148, or if they just showed up and were happy to help,” she shared.

Rushing says it’s a good opportunity for other people who live farther away from Lexington to come and get fitness facilities without having to travel all the way to the city.
