Most seniors know that they can take advantage of discounts specially designed for them to save on hotels, attractions, car rentals, excursions, and more. But are the special rates for seniors really that special?
This is not the case, and it would be best for seniors to take advantage of the deals available to everyone through travel deal sites, mobile apps, coupon sites, daily deal sites, and rewards programs. Here are several examples of how senior discounts compare. To other offers and specials:
Some hotel chains, such as Holiday Inn, offer discounted rates for travelers 62 and older. And AARP members age 50 and older ($16 membership prices depending on the year) get discounts of 5% to 20% at several hotels, including Best Western, Days Inn, Hilton, Hyatt and Sheraton. Discounts apply to the most productive rates offered through hotels and cannot be combined with other discounts.
