Rheinmetall builds military plant in Hungary

It will be the company’s first large-scale hybrid facility for the production of complex parts for civilian electric cars and military equipment.

If all goes according to plan, production will not begin until the end of next year.

Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Hungarian Minister of Defense, spoke at the ceremony. He commented: “Through this investment, which includes the creation of three hundred high value-added jobs, a world-class ecosystem and wisdom base will be established, with the participation of municipal and regional universities.

“This means that Hungarian experts and engineers will be involved in one of the most important research and development projects in Europe. “

Rheinmetall is already assembling its Lynx armored infantry vehicles in the central Hungarian town of Zalaegerszeg. The company also announced plans to increase production of 155mm artillery ammunition in Europe, as part of an EU investment program.
