Detroit Public Schools announced Thursday that it will partner with Detroit Piston Cade Cunningham and GE Appliances to fund its Health Hub community program.

The announcement was made at East English Village High School in Finney, where Cunningham gave the district $60,000 for the district’s 12 centers.
The district won a $4. 5 million investment last summer to launch the program, which is designed to offer comprehensive services in collaboration with school fitness centers.
“We know that educational expansion and consistent attendance require our students and families to be healthy and stable,” Dr. Nikolai Vitti, superintendent of the Detroit Public School Community School District, said last summer. “This is another step in ensuring that our students and families can access the help they want through their community school, in line with the overall commitment of the district’s strategic plan. “
In addition to Cunningham’s funding, GE says it has agreed to provide each site with a laundry center. The program offers a variety of services to students and families, depending on the district, adding intellectual aptitude, housing counseling and legal assistance.
The 12 central locations include the best schools in Cody, Osborn, Mumford, Henry Ford, Central, Western, Denby, Pershing, East English Village, and the best schools in Finney, Southeastern, Northwestern, and Martin Luther King Jr.
