Vladimir Putin raises the minimum age to fight to 70 to “alleviate the need for further mobilization” in the run-up to the election.
British military intelligence has said that if the legislation is approved this will help to bolster Russia’s troops in Ukraine which would lead to an enormous number of soldiers being sent to the frontlines.
In December, Putin told his annual convention that about 617,000 troops were fighting frontline battles.

The U. S. said in its assessment that since the start of the war on Feb. 24, 2022, some 315,000 troops have been sent to their deaths, while Russia claims to have lost 5,937 soldiers.
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Tuesday: “Russia is proposing a bill to raise the age of military personnel hired, adding those recruited before June 2023, to 65 and 70 for officers.
“This would especially increase the current age limit of 51 for unofficial ones and would likely increase the length of the contract. “
Ukraine has around 7,800,000 troops, while Putin has around 1. 3 million and could easily send “three times” as many troops to the battlefields.
The MoD’s statement added, “The pre-war 2021 life expectancy for Russian males was 64.2 years old (according to the World Data Site).
“Therefore, this measure provides those service corps workers with lifelong contact. “
The United States said in its intelligence assessment: “The magnitude of the losses has forced Russia to take ordinary measures to maintain its combat capability.
“Russia declared a partial mobilization of an additional 300,000 people at the end of 2022 and approved criteria to allow the recruitment of older prisoners and civilians.
