SOUTH HADLEY – City officials on Friday unveiled a redesigned online page to improve accessibility on mobile devices and draw attention to the facilities most used by visitors to the site.
The most important changes to the site can be discovered on the first page. A menu of resources used, adding agendas and minutes, forms, and online payments, was moved from the screen aspect to the back of the main photo. The buttons are enlarged and less difficult to see on a mobile device.
“We really wanted to make the site more mobile friendly, as well as streamlining and enlarging the buttons on the front page to reflect the services people are looking for the most,” Town Administration Lisa Wong said.
Part of the city’s contract with government generation company CivicPlus includes updating the online page every two years. Over the past year, Wong and Deputy City Manager Kristin Maher researched other Internet sites and determined the best features to bring to South Hadley. site. Wong added that this is the first of several tweaks to the online page.
“We still have a lot of work to do to update and improve more pages,” he said. “One of the main adjustments in the coming weeks will be to upload a projects page so that citizens can see all the other public projects underway in one place. “
The Town Administration office looks for feedback on how easy it is to locate information and identity anything missing. So far, Wong received mostly positive feedback on the website. The few problems with links carrying over have been fixed, she said.
