GRAND FORKS – Tidal Wave Auto Spa location manager AJ Nagy says a competitive marketing crusade and lack of comparable car washes in the city achieved a top-tier landing.
The Grand Forks store, which opened on Sept. 28, 2022, is No. 2 in growth in Tidal Wave’s South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota region. The only store doing better than Grand Forks is located in Minneapolis.
“They love us here,” Nagy said. “We have had the highest growth in our region comparatively to most other sites.
“People wanted to try something new. The other two guys have been here for a while, so why not see the new guy?And many other people were satisfied with what we had to offer them.
Simonson’s and Rydell’s are the most similar car washes to Tidal Wave in Grand Forks.
“We’re probably a little more well-liked than Rydell and Simonson,” Nagy said. “But you can also use your sticker at 230 other locations across the country for other people who travel a lot or just from here to Fargo or Minneapolis. ”
Fargo and Minot are the two Tidal Wave locations in North Dakota.
“We’re doing it about twice as much as Fargo,” Nagy said. “You can probably attribute that to the number of car washes they have in that area. Here there are only three other people who do the conveyor belt car wash, who wash the car like we do.
“That’s because of the good luck we have with them. “
Nagy has about 12 employees, most of whom are part-time. It uses the best academics and scholars to run its business.
“Most of my staff here has been here since Day 1 or within the first three months of opening,” he said.
One update since the Grand Forks store opened is that brushes are no longer used to make the prep paint at the front of the wash.
The update was made in October.
“The company is renovating most of our outlets so they’re not ready,” Nagy said. “We don’t brush ahead of time, but we spray and wash with water. Insects are a big problem. We have a new solution with tension washers.
Once customers go through the wash, it’s off to the towels, spray bottles and vacuums.
Nagy said the company is already giving back to the community. A charity event in September raised $2,000 for the Grand Forks Support and Growth Center.
All profits that day went to local and corporate charities.
“They raised a lot of money, too,” Nagy said.
In addition, Tidal Wave simplifies budgeting for schools, churches, civic groups, sports teams, and much more through its fundraising program.
She simplified the procedure with two fundraising options: virtual and paper-based. Fill out the car wash fundraising form on their website and your organization can start fundraising.
Tidal Wave in Grand Forks washes nearly 200 cars a day in the winter and about 400 a day in the summer.
“I love Grand Forks,” he said, Nagy. Me I love summers in this area and I go out to the lake every weekend. “
He says it’s a big city in North Dakota, but “you seem to know everybody. “
