(Oslo, 25 January 2024) Hexagon Purus, a leading global manufacturer of zero-emission hydrogen mobility and infrastructure solutions, has expanded its main production facility in Weeze, Germany, for the engineering and production of hydrogen infrastructure, dispensing, refueling and desktop products. Linked Systems. Storage.
Hexagon Purus is expanding its capacity to meet growing visitor demand for answers on hydrogen infrastructure as the world moves towards blank energy sources. The existing 11,000 m2 facility in Weeze has now been expanded to 16,000 m2. The capacity expansion approximately doubles Hexagon Purus’ annual production capacity. of type four high-pressure hydrogen infrastructure responses.
“We are proud to open our expanded production facility in Weeze, our fourth opening in the last 12 months,” said Michael Kleschinski, Senior Vice President of Mobility and Infrastructure. “Hydrogen storage and distribution is an important component of the hydrogen ecosystem and is the main growth driver for Hexagon Purus. We continue to gain market share for hydrogen storage and transportation of all colors from legacy responses due to the competitive overall ownership load of our Type Four transportation and storage responses. We expect this trend to continue as green hydrogen replaces grey hydrogen and increased capacity improves our ability to meet developing demand.
The opening at Weeze follows openings of new manufacturing sites for hydrogen cylinder production in Kassel (Germany) in September 2023, battery systems in Kelowna (Canada) in April 2023 and hydrogen cylinders in Westminster (Maryland, US) in January last year.
About the market
The commercial and mobility sectors are responsible for almost 50% of annual global carbon emissions, and hydrogen has a vital role to play in reducing those emissions, especially in “hard to reduce” sectors. Making green hydrogen available for use in business processes and mobility is key to reducing carbon emissions.
As hydrogen, a key contributor to the energy transition, continues to gain momentum globally, more than 30 countries have published roadmaps for hydrogen. According to the Hydrogen Council, the number of announced hydrogen projects will increase by approximately 35% in 2023 to more than 1,400. which equates to $570 billion in investments. Green hydrogen is expected to meet 25% of the world’s energy desires by 2050.
