WASHINGTON (AP) — Special counsel Jack Smith on Saturday suggested a federal appeals court reject former President Donald Trump’s claims that he is immune from prosecution, saying the suggestion that he cannot be held accountable for crimes committed while in the workplace “threatens the democratic and constitutional foundation” of the country. The report by Smith’s team presented ahead of next month’s debates on the unverified question of whether a former president can be prosecuted for acts committed while in the Array.
