TalusAg generation lowers prices and eliminates long chains of origin, combating a lack of trust in food while reducing emissions that cause climate change.
NAIVASHA, Kenya, Dec. 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Kenya Nut Company, a multinational agricultural company, has partnered with TalusAg, an eco-friendly ammonia generation company, to install the world’s first modular eco-friendly ammonia advertising formula that offers cleaner, less expensive products. and more reliable fertilizer production.
Talus’ carbon-free on-site formula produces ammonia (the building block of all mineral fertilizers) only sunlight, water, and air. The company’s patented compressor design and software controls ensure that fertilizer is delivered when and where it is needed, eliminating protective hazards and greenhouse fuel emissions from long and complex source chains.
The first implementation of Talus (talusOne, installed at Kenya Nut Company’s Morendat farm in Naivasha, Kenya) demonstrates the immense decentralized production of green ammonia in rural and supply-vulnerable communities.
Kenya Nut Company’s TalusOne is powered by a 2. 1 MW solar farm and produces approximately one tonne of green ammonia per day. For every ton of green ammonia produced, the unit avoids up to 8 tons of carbon emitted in classic ammonia production and distribution, representing approximately 2% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
TalusAg and Kenya Nut Company have signed a 15-year agreement to source guaranteed carbon-free green ammonia fertilizers at a consistent price. Kenya Nut Company will use this cheap fertilizer to produce crops more efficiently.
“We are excited to pioneer the future of cleaner, smarter fertilizer production with our partners at TalusAg,” said Kenya Nut Company CEO Graeme Rust. “The unique technology of talusOne provides significant benefits for all farmers, reducing costs while improving product quality and reliability.”
“Our work with Kenya Nut Company will transform how the world views the difficult-to-decarbonize agricultural industry,” said TalusAg Co-Founder and CEO Hiro Iwanaga. “The local and carbon-free production of ammonia by talusOne is just the first step in a journey to revolutionize food and renewable fuel production systems to be cleaner, more affordable, and more reliable.”
