MIAMI — A hit-and-run stopped traffic on NW 27th Avenue, north of State Road 836/Dolphin Expressway, for several hours Friday morning.
According to police, they gained a call about the crash, which involved a sedan and a black pickup truck, around 5:40 a. m.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a red Toyota in the middle of Avenue NW at the corner of 11th Street.
“The driver of this vehicle was seriously injured, he’s still in the hospital and we’re hopeful he will, but it’s going to be a long road for him,” Miami police spokesman Mike Vega said.
Vega said the pickup truck involved in the crash was discovered a short distance away.
“From what detectives told us, the red vehicle traveling northbound and the black vehicle, the pickup truck, was traveling south on 27th Avenue and collided,” Vega said.
However, police were unable to locate the driver of the pickup truck.
“The driver left on foot. So we set up a perimeter and attempted to search for this suspect immediately. However, we were unable to locate him,” Vega said.
Vega said since the vehicle had been reported stolen, it would most likely be located.
