Residents of the northwest suburbs who don’t have access to curbside biowaste pickup don’t have to go far to dispose of their biologics.
At Crystal, there is an organic recycling drop-off site in the parking lot of the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center.
Anyone with symptoms can bring bits such as food scraps, food-soiled paper (such as napkins and pizza boxes), and other compostable products.
Hennepin Recycling Group opened this depot in June 2022 and so far has three hundred registered members, but it still accepts more people.
“You have to start somewhere, or you won’t get where you need to go,” said Tim Pratt, a member of the board of directors of Hennepin Recycling Group. “And that’s why it’s satisfying, and it’s also satisfying for other people who sign up because they know what they’re doing. They know the environmental benefits it brings.
This site collects over 500 pounds of bio-curtains per week. If you would like to register, you can visit the Hennepin Recycling Group website.
