Constant communication kept workers’ intellectual aptitude stable: Director of Health of Garhwal Division Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue

Following the successful rescue of 41 workers from the Silkyara tunnel on Tuesday night, Dr Pravin Kumar, director of fitness at the Garhwal department, led the rescue operation, under pressure that constant communication with the trapped staff had helped their strong mental health. Pravin Kumar mentioned that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the state fitness minister were constantly present at the site and that fitness equipment continued to boost the morale of the trapped workers.

“Our Minister of Health and our Chief Minister were here at the site of the tunnel. From day one, our groups tried to cheer them up and get in touch with stranded staff,” he said. “All the food that can be transported through the canal and our groups have continued to boost morale, and that’s why the staff are in good intellectual condition after being rescued,” he added.

When asked about the physical upheavals the staff faced while trapped, Dr Pravin Kumar said, “The staff have not been diagnosed with any primary illness. Some of them had difficulty urinating and allergies, and we treated them accordingly. The mammoth 17-day rescue operation ended on Tuesday night after the 41 trapped staff members were safely rescued from the Silkyara tunnel and taken to the Chinyalisaur Community Health Centre for initial medical treatment.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also met with the rescued workers, as well as Union General (Retired) Minister of State VK Singh. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with the rescued men. (ANI)
