The Benedictine Sisters of Erie gathered Monday night for a vigil to retake the site.
Despite the rain, June Mathis Jr. ‘s friends and family joined the sisters as they claimed the place of her death and prayed for peace.
Mathis Jr. drove through a car outside the King’s Rook Club on Aug. 12, sparking a street fight.
He later died from his injuries and the driver of the vehicle charged with impaired vehicular homicide.
The Benedictine sisters believe that a non-violent way of life is imaginable and hold these vigils to pray that this will become a reality.
