The annual Byron Allen Presents TheGrio Awards will air on CBS on Nov. 25 at 8 p. m. having recently been recorded in Beverly Hills.

TheGrio is Allen Media Group’s program focused on African American news, lifestyle, sports and entertainment. The Grio Awards, curated by Sheryl Underwood and Roy Wood Jr. , are intended to celebrate achievements in film, music, comedy, television, sports, philanthropy, business, fashion, social justice, environmental justice and education.

“Byron Allen Presents The Grio Awards” is a co-production through Allen Media Group and Backhand Productions. Allen, Carolyn Folks, Jennifer Lucas, Jeff Atlas and Michelle Willrich are the producers. Greg Phillinganes is the musical director.

“I created the Grio Awards to celebrate and magnify African American excellence and the incredible champions of other communities that we are, in fact,” said Allen, founder, chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group. “As a child, strong and positive African American icons like Berry Gordy, Jr. , Rosa Parks, Muhammad Ali and Martin Luther King, Jr. helped me see myself differently and replaced the trajectory of my life. Celebrating and magnifying iconic personalities is something we can’t do enough. , especially for our children.
