China’s NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU ban could start very soon, so be prepared for price increases elsewhere

The latest on the NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU ban in China is that it will be removed as planned for this month and we have a theoretical date for it to start, which is November 17.

Unfortunately, NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 will soon get a lot more expensive everywhere (Image credit: NVIDIA)

At least that’s the word circulating in the rumor, we deserve to add a lot of salt to it, because the source is MyDrivers (specifically Kuai Technology). Keep in mind that MyDrivers is rarely on the most sensitive part of our list of favorite fonts. It will have to be said (but he has made correct predictions in the past).

We’re told that “many” graphics card brands in China have shown the technician that the RTX 4090 will be banned in the country on November 17.

Previous rumors have indicated that November would be the month the U. S. ban will go into effect, but there are questions about the veracity of that ban and whether it is possible to postpone it to a later date.

In fact, it has been reported that the ban would be implemented, but this has been widely rejected. However, MyDrivers adds a warning that the discussed date can be changed.

As we’ve already discussed, the reason why everyone is aware of a ban in China is that it will increase RTX 4090 prices in the short term outside the region.

What’s happening is that the demand in China has gone pretty crazy, as when thinking about buying the RTX 4090, they rush to buy as much as they can, and as a result, costs have skyrocketed. In turn, shipments to China increased to capitalize on this GPU power frenzy, leading to a reduction in stock in other regions.

We’ve already noticed an increase in the price of RTX 4090 graphics cards in the US. It will most likely get worse, at least for now. When the Chinese situation eases, prices are expected to normalize again. We take a deeper look at this in our full review of why you shouldn’t buy an NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU just yet, but wait a bit.

This may be a frustrating scenario for those who were looking for a Lovelace flagship before the holiday season hit, but there’s not much you can do: you can wait or simply pay more and get it over with.

However, there may be a good reason to be truly patient: and that’s NVIDIA’s updated graphics cards that are in the works.

In theory, there’s an incoming RTX 4080 Super and given the evolution of the rumored specs, it may be a great option for the RTX 4090 that will save you more than a little money.
