On January 12 we tell you the story of Kenneth Herron, who bought a Citroen DS five 63-reg from Cars4You, in Edinburgh.

When the alternator belt broke 2,600 miles later and repair attempts failed, Herron attempted to exercise his right to refuse the car.

He asked for reimbursement of the £2,448. 64 deposit and monthly invoices of £910. 49 he had already disbursed, but supplier MotoNovo Finance refused to pay.

The case ended up in Dunfermline Sheriff’s Court, where Herron described it as a “historic” case.

However, this characterization was rejected through automotive legal consultancy Lawgistics, which called the case a “storm in a teacup,” adding that car dealers had nothing to worry about.

The story, and its imaginable ramifications for traders, turned out to be an engaging read and was viewed some 23,000 times in January.

When we returned to the news on January 3, we gave you a glimpse of what happened to used car costs in the last month of 2022.

Cap HPI data submitted to the car dealership revealed that December was the third biggest price drop in 2022 after March and April, both of which fell 2. 1%.

That meant the average three-year-old used car with 60,000 miles on the clock had lost around £300 at the end of last year.

Despite the drop, valuation experts said the change from December to January is “in line” with the five-year average, which appears to “strengthen the overall market despite the economic turmoil the country has faced this year. “

Used cars have made headlines in recent years and this story has been read more than 27,000 times.

One of the biggest stories of the month was the ongoing currency crisis in Cazoo.

Keeping the functions prominently on this list, with the first access in this story, in which the full scope of the company’s problems was reported.

In a call to all employees, which leaked to the car dealership, visitor director Darren Bentley warned staff about mass closures and layoffs.

He announced that up to 15 Cazoo visitor moving centers could close and that the number of preparation centers could also be reduced to three.

Although last year ended badly for Cazoo, once we entered the new year, the magnitude of his upheavals began to be noticed.

The first sign of those difficulties came here when the New York Stock Exchange suspended Cazoo’s orders and initiated delisting proceedings.

Warrant trading of online used car broker, ticker CZOO WS, has been “immediately suspended,” the NYSE announced at the close of trading on Jan. 4.

The New York Stock Exchange said on Business Wire that the collateral was “no longer eligible for subpoenas based on abnormally low value levels. “

In addition to the ongoing crisis in Cazoo, the other major January saga collapsed in the price of new and used Teslas.

On January 13, Tesla announced that it had reduced the price of the Model 3 from an initial value of £51,090 to £42,990, a drop of almost 16%.

The Model Y Performance variant, the most expensive of the variety, was also reduced from a starting price of £67,990 to £57,990, a value discount of at least 15%.

Customers who ordered the car at the previous price will be forced to keep that price if they submitted an order and there were also protests in China, after buyers did not see the price cuts there.

Overall, this has just been the general month in Elon Musk’s crazy world and this story is the first on our list to hit 35,000 clicks.

Now let’s move on to our five most sensible and back to Cazoo. Following his warnings about job loss, reports revealed that workers who had spent two years or less at the company would not get any severance pay.

Last Monday, employers denied that was the case and insisted that all painters facing the threat of losing their jobs, no matter how long they work at the company, will get severance pay.

A spokesperson said that “all workers will be entitled to severance pay, with a minimum of 4 weeks of fundamental salary. “
