President Muhammadu Buhari sent a letter to his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, congratulating him, the Chinese government and people, as well as the Chinese network in Nigeria on the occasion of the Chinese New Year on January 22.
According to a presidential spokesperson through Femi Adesina, in the letter personally signed through him, President Buhari said: “On the instance of the Chinese New Year, Year of the Rabbit, from January 22, 2023, I write on behalf of the Government and other people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to make our warmest congratulations and most productive wishes to Your Excellency greater, the Chinese government, the other Chinese people, as well as the Chinese network in Nigeria.
“I am very pleased that Nigeria’s bilateral relations and cooperation with China have been maintained and strengthened as it joins the Nigerian government in our progressive progress, especially in infrastructure, agriculture, trade, electric power and security.
“Your Excellency, it should be noted that despite the global instability in 2022, China has continued to exert a positive influence on world affairs and witnessed the good fortune of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which has led China on a new adventure to build a fashionable socialist country in all aspects, under his direction.
“As they celebrate the New Year, I am confident that the Year of the Rabbit will bring more progress and prosperity to the People’s Republic of China and further expand the cordiality between our two countries towards new achievements and breakthroughs.
“Congratulations!”
