Trevor Noah joins the pile of ridicule for Donald Trump this week, after the two-time indicted former president defended his dinner with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and well-known white nationalist Nick Fuentes, saying the rapper explicitly said something anti-Semitic. at the meeting.
Trump provoked a widespread backlash after the two at their Mar-a-Lago hotel last week, given Ye’s recent wave of anti-Semitic messages and Fuentes’ well-documented legacy of hate speech. But, in the days after the dinner, Trump tried to shirk the assembly’s duty by claiming he had no idea Fuentes would be at the dinner and didn’t even know who Fuentes was.
“In Trump’s defense, how could he know that the guy Kanye travels with might simply be a white supremacist?I mean, I understand what he’s saying,” Noah joked. He said, “I just wanted to have dinner with this anti-Semite, I didn’t know I’d bring a friend!”
Trump also tried to downplay the situation by saying Ye himself “did not express any anti-Semitism” at the meal, though he was suspended from several social platforms for anti-Semitic posts. And Noah couldn’t help laughing at Trump’s logic in this regard. .
“Now what? I’m also sure he didn’t rap at dinner, but you know he’s a rapper,” the “Daily Show” host scoffed.
More than anything, though, Noah was a little puzzled because other people seemed surprised through Trump’s selected guests. He joked that at this point, Trump doing something mundane, or healthy, would be more shocking than anything else.
