SLO Veterans Hall Covid Testing Closes After Over Two Years, County Moves Testing to New Location

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. —After more than two and a half years, the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building (SLO Vets Hall) will no longer serve as a COVID-19 test for San Luis Obispo County’s public fitness as of today.

Public Health is moving its check from San Luis Obispo to a new location at 3450 Broad Street (Suite 111).

Testing will begin at the new location on January 4, 2023. It is available at Broad St. o Sacramento Dr. and will be visibly marked when it opens next week.

The famous SLO Vets Hall, located near the intersection of Monterey St. and Grand Ave. , has been a pivotal facility for the public fitness branch during the pandemic.

“I am grateful to the veterans of our network for so graciously sharing their glorious area for more than two years,” said Dr. Brown. Penny Borenstein, San Luis Obispo County Health Officer. “I am also grateful that the call for testing has been reduced to a point where it is imaginable to meet the need elsewhere and return this area to its original use. We remain in a position to react if desires change. “

The other two public gyms in Grover Beach and Paso Robles will remain in their current locations.

Grover Beach’s location is at 1336 Ramona Ave. , Suite A, and Paso Robles’ location is at 800 Pine St.

All 3 are open from 7 am to 7 pm. and are closed from 11 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 5 pm The Grover Beach is closed on Fridays.

According to the county, patients who test positive for COVID-19 can access Test to Treat facilities at network sites and bring home the Paxlovid antiviral remedy if indicated.

In addition to COVID-19 testing, network sites will also offer immediate influenza testing.
