A man shot and killed his wife and then killed himself on Christmas morning in a corridor of the kingdom of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thornton, Colorado, police said.
In a news release, Thornton police showed the two adults discovered dead at the scene were a married couple who were former members of the Kingdom Hall congregation.
The Adams County coroner’s officer would verify the identity of the deceased at a later date.
They also said that “the Adams County Sheriff’s Insane Materials Unit is lately investigating suspicious devices discovered at the scene” and that police are interviewing witnesses from the ongoing investigation.
On Sunday night, Thornton police said 3 “incendiary devices” were discovered at the scene. “They were manufactured and recovered with the help of the Adams County Hazardous Materials Unit,” the Thornton Police Department said.
The guy threw 3 pipe-shaped contraptions through a bedroom window, according to CBS Colorado. However, the bombs did not explode and only caused a small fire, CBS Colorado reported, adding that only one internal user at the time and not injured.
Neither the man nor his wife ever entered the worship position, CBS Colorado reported. It’s unclear if the two were running in combination or if the husband was acting alone and the wife was a victim, according to CBS Colorado.
According to police, “there is no longer fear for the protection of the Thornton community. “
Thornton is about 10 miles north of downtown Denver.
