On Thursday, Trump announced the news he had advanced on his social media platform, Truth Social, claiming that his “official collection of Donald Trump virtual trading cards is here. “
The limited-edition virtual maps, valued at $99 each, are expected to show art depicting Trump’s life and career. They’re meant to be collected “like a baseball card, but much more exciting,” he said.
However, virtual trading cards have been widely ridiculed by some Twitter users. Among them were journalist David Leavitt, who called Trump a “con man” about the launch, and political science professor Eddie Zipperer, who said whether the stickers were the genuine ad or “some kind of meme mocking Trump. “

The post led many to speculate about what he was joking, and some wondered if it could also be simply his election as vice president or a legal progression in one of his trials. Others think the former president may have returned to Twitter, which recently reinstated its suspended account in the past.
But it emerged that almost no one expected Trump to launch his own NFT, a move he lightly criticized of his third bid for the White House. (NFTs are rare virtual elements created to create “unique” versions of anything that can be digitized. )

Others have warned that the NFTs may be just Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has yet to run for president and is expected to challenge Trump for the Republican nomination.
