Rob Wade has been named CEO of Fox Entertainment, replacing Charlie Collier, who left the company last month to join Roku.
Wade will assume his new role effective immediately, after Maximo most recently served as the company’s president of select entertainment and specials. He will report to Fox Corporation CEO and Executive Chairman Lachlan Murdoch.
With the promotion, Wade will oversee Fox Entertainment’s entire portfolio, which comes with adjacent animation and animation corporations such as Bento Box Entertainment and Blockchain Creative Labs. Other Fox divisions that will be under its jurisdiction are MarVista Entertainment, TMZ, Fox Alternative Entertainment (which launched), Studio Ramsay Global, Fox Entertainment Studios and global content sales unit Fox Entertainment Global.
Wade’s expertise lies mostly in what is unscripted, so it’s hard to expect what kind of impact his promotion will have on animation. Although it has been reported that one of the main reasons for his immediate rise through the ranks of Fox in recent years has been his penchant for monetary responsibility; So maybe there’s a belt tightening along the way.
“Since the inception of FOX Entertainment, Rob has been an integral component of the leadership team guilty of executing its long-term strategy of building an independent broadcast-based media company, building a portfolio of content of its own and maintaining disciplined internal discipline. Given Rob’s willing artistic intuition and demonstrated operational acumen, he is well placed to lead Fox Entertainment in what promises to be an exciting upcoming bankruptcy in its rich history.
Wade added, “I am honored to be tasked with leading Fox Entertainment for the long term with an exceptionally talented team, whom I know all too well, as we build and expand Fox’s legacy of storytelling excellence, entrepreneurial power and innovation. It is a transformative time in the global entertainment landscape, bringing limitless opportunities and, above all, creativity, making long-term customers bright and exciting.
