A first: Chandigarh acquires a cellular water research laboratory

To ensure a quality drinking water supply, Mayor Sarbjit Kaur announced the city’s first cellular water analysis laboratory from the township office.

The laboratory, funded under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) program, will perform in situ water samples for other quality parameters such as pH, residual chlorine, TDS, conductivity, external and turbidity (NTU).

The mayor said the cell lab would tour the city to collect samples and identify water quality issues at the site.

MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra said that in order to supply quality water to citizens, the laboratory was upgraded as a component of the AMRUT program according to BIS 10500 standards. The van was taken so that the water provided to the citizens met the quality parameters.

The van would conduct on-site testing to identify any initial indications of poor quality, so that swift corrective action can be taken.

He further said the van would take 15 to 20 water patterns per day from the city, adding eight mandatory patterns of aqueducts located in parts of the city, five or six patterns of rehabilitation settlements, one pattern of a village and random patterns of government buildings, hospitals, markets and the reported domain. etc. All the spaces of the village would be covered twice a month.
