Police in Owasso are helping after saying vandals caused more than half a million dollars in damage to a construction site.

According to police, this happened last weekend night near 76th Street North and the monument. Vandals smashed shipping containers, knocked down a front loader and also cut asphalt at the Monument.

Officers released photos of the wounded. Nick Boatman of Owasso police said an employee of the structure discovered the damage at the site around 6 a. m.

“We have responded and observed all kinds of damage here at the site of this structure. There were vehicles in the structure overturned, obviously, the Conex boxes involving much of their machinery and appliances were overturned, damaged and stolen,” Boatman said.

Boatman says vandals also drive on Memorial Drive.

“At the end of their experiment, I guess they changed some, which caused significant damage to the machinery itself, adding a crawler excavator, a backhoe and a forklift,” Boatman said.

This is for a church project.

“The structures company’s estimate is about a million-dollar part of its damage. Fortunately, the church itself that is being built is not short of money, they are missing a little bit of fabrics that have been damaged during the vandalism,” Boatman said.

Investigators don’t know who might have done something like this. They expect to get answers from a camera installed on the site.
