Even if COVID hasn’t gone away, it’s harder to get tested.
The days of driving tests and loose vaccinations at the Peoria Civic Center are long gone, and this month, the federal government’s covid-19 home testing program came to an end. Unless Congress approves more investment for the program, don’t wait for more loose tests.
So how does a user get for COVID on those days? Here are some options.
The Tazewell County Health Department provides non-invasive covidSHIELD monitoring 4 days a week, 9 a. m. East Peoria Festival Building, 2200 E. Washington St.
The covidSHIELD test, which uses saliva to detect COVID-19, was developed through the University of Illinois as a non-invasive option to the nasal swab test. The clinic is for visitors only and is open to citizens of all counties. Tests are loose at no charge. Do not eat or drink anything one hour before the control. Results will be obtained within 24 to 48 hours.
