Michigan reported fewer coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, adding 15,854 new cases. That’s down 17. 2 percent from last week’s tally of 19,158 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Michigan ranked 12th among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. Over the past week, coronavirus cases in the United States have declined 4. 7% from beyond the week, with 507,209 cases reported. With 3 percent of the nation’s population, Michigan recorded 3. 13 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, three states have had more cases in the past week than in the past week.
The Labor Day holiday would possibly have replaced the number of other people who can get tested and when, and when governments report the effects of testing and deaths. This will distort comparisons from week to week.
Wayne County has reported 2,710 and 20 deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 3,258 and 24 deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 477,427 and 8,335 deaths.
Oakland County has reported 1,947 cases and 8 deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 2,211 cases and 13 deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 346,266 cases and 4,082 deaths.
Across Michigan, cases fell in 69 counties, with the most productive declines in Wayne County, with 2710 cases up from 3258 the previous week; macomb County, with 1,476 out of 1,752 instances; and Oakland County, with 1947 of 2211 instances.

In Michigan, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Iron County with 425 cases per 100,000 per week; Huron County with 291; and Shiawassee County with 254. The Centers for Disease Control says the network’s highest levels of transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
Wayne County, with 2,710 instances, added the maximum number of new instances overall; Oakland County, with 1947 instances; and Macomb County, with 1,476. The number of weekly instances was higher in thirteen counties than last week. The worst increases from last week’s speed occurred in Washtenaw, Manistee and Bay counties.
In Michigan, another 83 people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 129 people died.
A total of another 2,786,213 people in Michigan have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 38,121 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, another 95,250,705 people tested positive and another 1,050,323 people died.
