Digital nomads may have visited southern European cities in the past two years, but their next stop could be North Africa, according to two specialized hotel companies.
This is because Europe is adapting expensively and Morocco, more affordable, is only a short flight from an access point like Lisbon, Portugal. The brands selina and Outsite, which are pro-digital nomads, are now betting on the fact that the country will be the next big corporate with competitive expansion plans.
Outsite, a membership-based hospitality logo for itinerant remote workers, will open its first riad, a classic Moroccan home, in Marrakech on September 5.
The issue of affordability extends to the homes themselves, as some hotels have struggled after the pandemic cut off the entry of foreign tourists. “On the source side, there are many houses that are recovering from Covid,” he added. have a lovely riad; in 2019, it would have been much more complicated to get that back.
In addition, Onsite, which has forty-five properties, will target more locations in the country, adding Essaouira. At the same time, it is launching business packages after finding good fortune with some companies, adding WordPress owner Automattic.
“Companies can arrange off-site retreats or retreats, or offer club and off-site credits to attract and retain talent. It will be a great domain for us,” he added.
It’s no coincidence that Brad Handler, luxury and enjoyment co-founder of the Company Inspirato, has just joined Outsite’s board of directors. It brings “broad enjoyment in hospitality and club business models,” the company said. Inspirato is also positioning its new subscription product, Select, as a tactic that corporations can use to earn merit when hiring.
Selina also sees a lot in Morocco, and especially in its serene deserts.
“Morocco has been on our radar since day one,” said Ariel Levinsohn, vice president of global brands and creativity. “We are a very giant portfolio for Morocco. We think it is a more sensible destination for our audience, and tourism will explode there.
Levinsohn said he leveraged his “experience board,” made up of local cultural leaders and creators, and drew an ambitious line for the company.
Nomad Camp Agafay, a Bedouin-style shop just 30 minutes from Marrakech, opened its doors last May. But it opens new ones in Dakhla in December and in Essaouira in 2023, followed by Taghazout and Merzouga.
“It’s an immediate expansion, to other positions in Europe,” Levinsohn added.
Morocco is also a gateway to the rest of Africa for brands. These openings for Selina and Outsite mark their first steps on the continent. a bit like a start-up center,” Guisset said.
The planned openings and expansions will certainly help the tourist office’s newest account. Morocco needs to move away from the clichés of bustling bazaars and handicrafts, and reposition the country as an artistic and fashionable destination. “(The campaign) targets a younger audience, a richer visitor who can stay longer, explore the country more and ultimately spend more. A visitor who will come back,” said Zina Bencheikh of Intrepid Travel.
And with the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the US this week reducing Morocco’s Covid threat score to Level 2, doors may be about to open to much more remote staff in the coming months.
