Manchester United have signed Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax for an initial payment of €95 million (£82. 1 million) on the final day of the summer move window.
A deal that is already underway between the two clubs, with United accepting a possible bonus of five million euros (£4. 3 million), making Antony the fourth most beloved signing in Premier League history.
He has put pen to paper on a contract that runs through 2027, with the option of one more year, and is following Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro through the door this summer.
“It’s a moment in my career to sign for one of the most iconic clubs in the world,” the 22-year-old told United’s official website.
Antony scored 25 goals in 82 appearances in his two-and-a-half-year spell at Ajax, but is now looking to reunite with United manager Erik Ten Hag, who left the Eredivisie club this summer.
“Playing with Erik ten Hag at Ajax is the best thing for me and my development,” Antony added.
“His taste for football and training brings out my inner self, and I’m excited by what he told me about his plans and ambitions in Manchester.
“My time at Ajax has been fantastic and I will be grateful for the acceptance as truth they have given me, but now I am in a position for the next challenge, and I look forward to join my new teammates and bet. “my component to bring good fortune to Manchester United.
Antony, who has been capped nine times for Brazil, is United’s most beloved signing at the moment, after the £89 million paid by Paul Pogba in 2016, and is arguably not the only one to arrive at Old Trafford on the day of the deadline.
Ten Hag is also for an additional goalkeeper for David de Gea, and Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka has been strongly connected with a change.
Manuel Akanji is aiming to win trophies in England after signing a five-year contract to complete his move to Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund.
City were thought to have ended their summer activities, but returned to the market to increase defensive intensity following recent injuries to Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake that left Ruben Dias and John Stones as the only compatible senior centre-backs available for Pep Guardiola.
The Premier League champions paid £17 million to sign the Swiss international, who spent four seasons at Dortmund after signing for Basel in 2018.
“I’m very happy to be here and I can’t wait to start,” said Akanji, who took the No. 25 blouse vacated by former City captain Fernandinho this summer.
“City have been one of the groups in Europe in recent seasons. It’s brilliant to see them, they play an exciting football logo and compete for trophies year after year, so coming here feels like the next most productive step in my career. “
Leicester made their first signing out of the window by announcing the arrival of Belgian foreigner Wout Faes from Reims.
Faes, 24, has signed a five-year contract at the King Power Stadium to move up to Brendan Rodgers’ defensive duties following the sale of Wesley Fofana to Chelsea.
“This is the dream level of my career and I’m very pleased to be here,” said Faes, whose only senior team in Belgium replaced in a Nations League win over Poland in June.
“I’m progressing year after year and I hope to keep doing the same here. All the comforts and wisdom are there to help me more. I’m going to have to work hard, but I’m going to give one hundred percent to help the team. “
Leicester’s home rivals Nottingham Forest had a contrasting summer with the Foxes and announced their 19th signing in the form of Wolves’ Willy Boly.
The Ivorian defender has signed a two-year contract at City Ground as Steve Cooper continues to grow his ranks.
