In June, the state-controlled telecommunications company issued a tender to upgrade 2,323 solar-powered grid sites from cellular 2G to 4G for which Rs 77-lakh consistent with the site allocated through the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) that mandated the use of available infrastructure at existing sites.
