A leading MSP visited Kilmarnock’s new HALO facility to see how it is helping businesses and communities.

During his tour of the award-winning building, Cabinet Secretary Angus Robertson learned about low-carbon generation, its 107 rooftop solar panels and battery garage installation, halo #RockMe trading room, and some of the shared painting spaces where tenants can meet, paint, and netpaints on site.

The Hill Street venue has progressed on several fronts to have a huge impact across the country.

Dr Marie Macklin CBE, Founder and Chief Executive of URBAN REGENERATION COMPANY HALO, said: “We were proud to welcome the Cabinet Secretary to HALO in Kilmarnock as we toured our amenities and outlined the vital domestic and foreign business opportunities that exist.

“Everyone at HALO is incredibly grateful for the help and investment of the Scottish and UK governments and this scale on which we were able to not only showcase our Net Zero credentials and how we help businesses in Ayrshire and Scotland, but also bring the global halo aspirations to the Cabinet Secretary as we seek to help create the new world of tomorrow.

Mr. Robertson added, “HALO embodies many of the ambitions set out in the National Economic Transformation Strategy, leading the way not only by demonstrating how a net-zero facility can and does, but also how the public and private sectors can work in combination to provide the right environment for business growth.

“HALO embodied transformation; regenerate an abandoned industrial site in an area for businesses to thrive and attract foreign investment. Dr. Macklin sets out the principle of excellence on how we can work together to achieve true global success.
