PIKETON: When Charlie Beattie was working as a janitor at the Department of Energy’s Portsmouth site, he didn’t know he would eventually find his way to Power Operations. In the intervening years, he worked in converter maintenance, cascade maintenance, and force and disposal operations. . Beattie retired this week from Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth with over 46 years of service.
Beattie plans to travel, spend more time with her family, spend and paint in her carpentry workshop.
“I would like to tell everyone to keep moving forward, to take on new demanding situations as they rise up and triumph over them,” Beattie explained. “We are all here to grow as individuals, to supply our families, to raise our young people. “and get to a point in our lives where we can retire and do the things that are important, be with our circle of family and friends. “
