A LOCAL council has issued a stern warning after a driver scammed £230 through a parking app.
Flintshire Council has launched an investigation after 3 banknotes were taken from a woman’s bank account through a “Happy Hormone” scammer.
They are investigating whether they used the official PayByPhone app advertised in the parking lot.
The woman, who lives in Manchester, was visiting her hometown of Connah’s Quay in North Wales and to prevent in the former Somerfield car park.
There, motorists can pay 50 pence to park for 4 hours or £1 for the full day at the town hall-run facility.
Posting on Facebook, he explained, “I used the app to pay. I ended up being scammed and had £230 taken out of my bank. “

Parking attendants say they’ve never had any there, but the scam has scared some motorists.

The app, operated through Volkswagen Financial Services AG, is used through forums in Britain.
Katie Wilby, lead executive at Flintshire Streetscene and Transportation, said: “We have been alerted to an imaginable fraudulent parking app, which we are lately investigating with our official provider, after a visitor reported that they had been the victim of online banking fraud while looking to pay for parking recently.
“We need to warn other people to be more careful and wary of scammers when paying for their parking online.
PayByPhone also warned consumers that several fakes had been created in an attempt to impersonate its website.
Urging users to “stay tuned,” he added, “we are in the process of shutting down those fraudulent sites. “
