The Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) is pleased to offer a variety of educational systems this summer at Chimney Rock National Monument.
The Association offers two other evening sky archaeoastronomy programs: Our Solar System on Friday, August 5 and Stars and Galaxies on August 26. Each program focuses on another from the evening sky.
Tickets are $16 (adults) and $8 (children ages 5 to 12) plus booking payment and are non-refundable. Check out our program schedules and ask your questions.
Guests gather at the beginning of Mesa Village Trail and head to Great Kiva in blankets or chairs (bring your own). The purpose is to concentrate on the e and concentrate on an express detail of nature.
Using the sketchbooks and drawing fabrics provided, you’ll read about the decided details of nature and practice how it magically looks on a page of your sketchbook.
Then there will be an exchange between us of what we have learned. No artistic skill is required, just the preference to be open to suggestions and the willingness to test one’s own expression.
These are reservation-only programs, which are not suitable for children under the age of 10. The $20 payment (10 years and older) includes all fabrics and is a non-refundable donation.
This captivating two-hour tour is led by a qualified CRIA consultant and will focus on the history and importance of Chimney Rock and the ancestral peoples who inhabited the domain over a thousand years ago. You’ll walk through Mesa Village and Great Senderos House Pueblo, learning about the structures along the trail, adding their meaning and uses.
The visits take place in the quiet hours of the monument. Bring your curiosity, your camera, strong shoes and water.
Tickets $16/adult and $8/child (5 to 12 years).
Tour participants will hear the events of the region’s ancient geology and be informed how to identify a common fossil clue in the area. Guests are required to arrive to check in at 07:00.
Tickets $16/adult and $8/child (5 to 12 years).
Back in the amphitheater, the program resumes with an informative talk on Chimney Rock’s own topics, such as the ancestral culture of the people, archaeoastronomical theories, the primary lunar stop, the geology of the region, etc. As the moon rises and night falls, you’re tempted through the haunting melodies of a Native American flute played by our own Charles Martinez.
This program lasts approximately 2. 5 hours and adds recordings, trail hikes, lectures, and musical performances to the moonrise, and is for children ages four and up.
Tickets are $16 (ages 13 and up) and $8 (ages 5 to 12) plus booking payment and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
