Alfa Romeo plans to build a big new car for the U. S. market, chief executive Jean-Philippe Imparato said due last week.
The all-new vehicle would see Alfa Romeo enter a new sector of the market, on top of its existing offerings of Tonale Stelvio MID-size SUV and hybrid, and the Giulia sedan, Reuters reports.
Extending beyond its classic European audience, Alfa Romeo plans to use the larger vehicle to bolster its presence in the US. Usa and China, as its region of origin.
Speaking after the publication of the effects of the first part of the parent company Stellantis, the head of Alfa, Imparato, said: “Our giant vehicle offering will have to adapt to the international, American, Chinese and European markets. “
The company does not yet know what kind of car the new vehicle will be. And while a large-scale SUV is likely to turn out given trends among car buyers, Imparato is keeping an open mind for now.
Speaking about whether it will be an SUV, a sedan or a crossover somewhere in between, Imparato said: “We need the right combination. That’s a resolution we’ll make until the end of the year. “
Alfa isn’t in a hurry for now, especially since the company says this new vehicle won’t go on sale until 2027.
